# XML

You can use the XML connector from the CData Sync application to capture data
from XML and move it to any supported destination. To do so, you need to add
the connector, authenticate to the connector, and complete your connection.

## Connect to XML

To connect to XML in Sync:

1. Open the **Connections** page of the Sync dashboard.
2. Click **Add Connection** to open the **Select Connectors** page.
3. Click the **Sources** tab and locate the **XML** row.
4. Click the **Configure Connection** icon at the end of that row. If you do not see the **Configure Connection** icon, add the connector from the [Connections](https://docs.sync.cdata.com/26.4/en/connections/connections.md) page.
5. Enter the following connection settings on the **Settings** tab:
   * **Connection Type:** Select the connection type for your XML resources. The default type is **Auto**.
   * **Data Model:** Select the data model that you want to use for parsing XML documents and generating the database metadata.
   * **URI:** Enter the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) for your XML resource location.
   * **XPath:** Enter the XML path that repeats at the same level within the XML document. You can specify multiple paths in a semicolon-separated list.
   * **XML Format:** Select the XML format that you want to use. The default format is **XML**.
6. Define advanced connection settings on the **Advanced** tab. (In most cases, though, you should not need these settings.)
7. Click **Create & Test** to create your connection.
